Castlepalooza Day 2
Sunday it was and our heads had seen better days, it’s true, however we really were loving this festival like no other so with a quick rub of a baby wipe it was back into the action.
The car park is located around a 30 min walk away and as we had our big red fun bus with us we were forced to park there as Castlepalooza does not allow camper van parking on the grounds of the castle, something we feel they should note for next year as camping around the castle is where you want to be. The campsite starts literally feet away from Charleville Castle which really is as impressive as it sounds, it means no half an hour trek from the campsite to the main stage and then realising you forgot to wear socks while wearing wellies and now your feet are in ribbons, cut to Martin at Oxegen last month.
First things first, ice cream, not to eat but to smear across our faces in the hope that we would look a little less tired. FYI, it doesn’t work. HAMMOCKS. If our eyes didn’t pop out of our heads with the sight of a village of hammocks none the less hidden behind some trees, this was something we haven’t seen at any other festival but then again, were not sure hanging from the trees at Oxegen would have quite the same feel to it.
Music wise for Sunday was another mix of bands we had heard of and bands we hadn’t heard of so all in all a good mix. The Bull Munroe had the Boudoir Tent hopping and over on the main stage rocking it out was the soulful Alessis Ark, this was all before The Dying Seconds took to the stage to give us electro rock from another world, this was the third time we had seen they guys perform and once again they delivered in full force, all six of them.
Castlepalooza is a mix of alternative folk meets epic amounts of craic set amongst the grounds of a beautiful castle, small it may be but we cannot stress it enough, get your behinds down there next year.
And here’s to you, the organisers of the best festival to date this summer.
